Use the magnifying glass tools to zoom in ( + ) or to zoom out ( - ) of the map.

As you zoom in you will find there are more points available in very busy areas.

After zooming in, you can drag the map around to view other areas simply by clicking on the map, holding your mouse button down and then moving your mouse.


Drag the Timeline icon left and right to change the year, and use the up and down arrows to alter the month. This will display the data on the map for that time period.

Map of the North Sea

The OilCity interactive map currently plots interesting gas and oil discoveries within the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS) between 1965 and 2001. Just pull the date slider around to see the North Sea activity grow over time.

The data shown is based on the annual DTI 'Brown Book', with some minor corrections. Further detail will be added to as the OilCity project grows. Please let us know if note any errors in the plotting of fields.
